Yahoo Expands Integration with FacebookPosted: December 2, 2009 | |
We seem to be entering a new phase in the social media trend cycle… the era of cross lingages and possible consolidation. Yahoo’s linkage with Facebook is only one example. LinkedIn already offers a linkage of it’s micro blogging feature with the user’s Twitter account. The reason for this is that the pool of social media consumers is starting to reach its limits. Platforms are increasingly fighting over the same consumers. The smaller or more niche sites do not have the same ‘social pull’ as a 350 million user Facebook community does. By connecting features accross sites social media platforms can share their user bases without having to compete for for user loyalty so aggressively.
More cross linkages the stronger the network is. The stronger the network, the bigger it’s valuation.
