Differentiating Your Off-Shore Offering


The market is full of off-shore services providers. Most offer local project management and claim to have the best skills in the market, but at the end of the day price is a major factor. So the question is how to differentiate from competition?

Service Value Model 

Developers need to look at the market from their clients point of view. If we accept the following:

a) you should not build core platforms, but rather value on existing market leading offerings

b) you should productize your work flows in a vertical context

c) you need to have vertical process know how

…then developers need to be geared to serve the same purpose. In my previous blog I wrote about the Value Pyramid and at the top of that pyramid we had value "expanding" solutions. This should be the core bread and butter of developers, but it still needs to align with the points listed above.

Developers should not be engaging in developing mail servers from core up, but rather building on top of Exchange or MS hosted Exchange.
